New Art work by Maryanne Jennings - 23rd May 2012

We are thrilled to be able to display the work of local Artist Maryanne Jennings on the walls at Hereweka Retreat . Maryanne's work fits well with the organic values of the Retreat with the subject matter relating to Nature and the natural environment.
Here is the Artists description of the work.
Tangimoana is a small coastal settlement in the Rangitikei region of the North
Island. From the beach it is possible on a clear day to see past Kapiti Island
to the northern ranges of Marlborough.The painting is a story in two parts.
The narrow upper panel is the river mouth at Tangimoana on a sea mist morning.
The lower panel is a continuation of a group of paintings that Jennings has
worked on since 2002 illustrating a series of poems she wrote for a masters of
fine arts dissertation at that time. A copy of the poem relating to this work
is available to the buyer
The painting is on well gessoed board and painted in oil on a silk collage with
gold leaf.
