Collection of early spring bulbs flowering in August!! - 6th Aug 2012

Drifts of snowdrops, crocus and early flowering dwarf narcissus are flowering already in Hereweka Garden,  situated on a sunny north facing slope, sheltered by the surrounding native bush on the Otago Peninsula, Dunedin.
Many other early flowering trees and shrubs are in bloom. Rhododendrons, Magnolia Campbellii (white flowering),and  Daphnes including the heavenly scented Daphne bholua are in full flower and the garden is ringing with the song of native tui and bellbird who come to feast on their nectar.
Every day something new emerges and gives us much delight. The buds of the flowering Prunus are swelling and the first of the spring blossom is about to erupt into bloom.
